When “… Chicken” was a longer, 36 1/2 minute, I submitted it Palm Springs International ShortsFest for 2014. It was not selected for a screening but it was in the Marketplace – a special room of computer monitors where film professionals (festival programmers, producers, filmmakers, etc.) could watch the film. It was there at the festival, from conversations with with programmers about their general programming decisions, i.e. what selection criteria they really used, that I became convinced that I needed to shorten the film to the current length. So, I taught myself Final Cut and re-opened the edit, and finished the current version on July 5, 2014. So, while last year’s festival was not a literal premiere, in paean to my educational moment, here’s last year’s great logo:
